A New Day Is Dawning

One day a seed of an idea was born. That seed was first planted by a friend who suggested jotting down a few of thoughts about pain – she used the word ‘lament’.

My initial thoughts: That sounds hard, How do you lament? Do I really want to bare my soul to the world? No one wants to hear what I have to say especially people I don’t know.

Anyway I decided to have a go and so I sat at my desk and started writing...... An hour and a half later......

The ideas flowed, my pen scribbled and in a very short time I had scrawled across a couple of pages some thoughts which fired up something within (me) which I didn’t know existed and I said to myself 'I wonder what would happen if I went downstairs to my music studio and I dropped a few chords on the keys?’

Using voice memos on my phone I recorded everything I tried and scribbled on the original paper and bit by bit – with time out for food and water and sleep - I had completed my first song 'A New Day is Dawning' in a day and a half.

I recorded it into Ableton and after tweaking I sent it off to my family.

What an adventure that started, with me saying ‘I can’t do that’, to the idea just flowing so I couldn’t NOT write the song.

As a Christian, I believe that God popped the ideas into my head. Nothing has ever come quite that easily before.
